Villainy – First Thoughts

I stopped by the Mayfair Games stall to get a demo of Villainy, a game I believe has just been launched.
The premise of the game is that you are starting out in your supervillain career, hiring henchmen, committing crimes and advancing your evil plots until you can confront the the hero of the piece and ultimately defeat him for the win!
I really enjoyed the game, as it contains a lot of little story stuff that emerges as you play. You can choose your villains name, the henchmen you hire are all colourful and the crimes you commit and the alter egos you can adopt are all funny, it’s definetley in the Jack Kirby vein of colourful super heroes.
The game I felt did fall a little flat towards the end of the session, as it gets to the point where you are just smashing yourself off the hero to try and win and it comes down to a bit of risk/ reward mechanics and the role of a dice. Saying that I found the game to be a lot of fun, and it has been a real surprise to me as I knew nothing about it before the convention.
Thanks to the folks at the Mayfair for demoing the game, and giving me some nice fluffy catan dice for defeating the villain
